Why Kenya, why now

Kenya is the largest economy in East Africa and a regional hub for finance, technology, logistics, agribusiness and creative industries. The country is anchored by Africa's leading mobile-money platform, a deep services sector, and the Port of Mombasa — the gateway to the Northern Corridor that serves Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, the DRC and Ethiopia. Kenya is a founding member of the East African Community (EAC), a State Party to the African Continental Free Trade Area, and pursues an active economic-diplomacy agenda as set out in the Kenya Foreign Policy.

Trade between Kenya and Angola

Kenya and Angola are complementary economies. Angola is a major producer of oil, gas and minerals; Kenya offers a diversified export basket in tea, coffee, horticulture, processed foods, pharmaceuticals, financial services and ICT. The Embassy supports Kenyan exporters seeking entry into the Angolan market and Angolan importers and distributors looking for reliable Kenyan suppliers. Engagement is structured around two-way flows under the AfCFTA framework and bilateral cooperation between the two governments.

Investment opportunities

Kenya welcomes Angolan investors across priority sectors identified by KenInvest, the national investment promotion authority: agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, energy (including renewables), ICT and the digital economy, financial services, infrastructure and the blue economy. The Embassy can facilitate introductions to KenInvest, county investment agencies and sector regulators. Conversely, the Mission supports Kenyan firms exploring Angola's expanding energy services, logistics, financial services and ICT markets in partnership with AIPEX, Angola's investment and export promotion agency.

Tourism and MICE

Kenya is one of the world's most iconic travel destinations — home to the Maasai Mara, Mount Kenya, the Indian Ocean coast and a fast-growing meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector centred on Nairobi. Travellers from Angola can apply for the Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) online before departure. The Embassy works with the Kenya Tourism Board to promote leisure, business and family travel between the two countries.

Labour mobility and skills

The Mission also supports structured labour mobility — connecting Kenyan professionals in sectors such as oil and gas services, aviation, banking, health and education with opportunities in Angola, and facilitating Angolan students and skilled workers seeking engagement with Kenyan institutions. This work aligns with Kenya's national labour migration framework and the diaspora support pillar of the Foreign Policy.
