Kenya and Angola Explore Cooperation in the Energy and Oil Sector

Embassy convenes engagements on oil, gas and downstream investment opportunities.

Under the leadership of H.E. Amb. Joyce Khasimwa Mmaitsi, the Embassy has engaged Angola's Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), and the national oil company Sonangol on areas of mutual interest. Discussions have covered technical exchange, capacity building, and opportunities for Kenyan firms to participate in Angola's expanding upstream and downstream petroleum sector.

Kenya, which is developing its own emerging oil and gas industry, sees Angola as an important partner for South-South learning, particularly on local content frameworks, regulatory design and the structuring of joint ventures. The Embassy is also exploring opportunities for Kenyan service providers — in logistics, engineering, financial services and ICT — to support Angola's energy ecosystem.
