Kenya Strengthens Engagement with Angola on SADC Agenda

Ambassador Mmaitsi engages Luanda on regional integration and peace and security.

Angola has historically played a central role in SADC's peace, security and political affairs architecture, including through the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), where Luanda has hosted critical mediation processes. The Embassy is coordinating Kenya's engagement on these tracks, given Kenya's own active role in East African Community (EAC) and African Union (AU) peace and security processes.

The Embassy is also working to align Kenyan and Angolan positions on continental priorities — including the operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), climate action, and African representation in global governance — in support of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
